Born and raised in San Diego, CA, Beverly Eckert-Zeiss began her career in nursing. She was a stay-at-home Mom while raising her daughter, Erin, now in real estate and a professional model, and son Troy, a professional surfer and snowboarder, who helped launch the sportswear company, Volcom.

"I guess I’ve always been interested in fashion and entertainment. As a little girl, I would scour my mother’s closet to create elaborate costumes and put on backyard shows for the neighbors." When she hit her thirties, Beverly began utilizing her suppressed talents professionally. After many years in acting and modeling, she began her own fashion production business. This led to becoming Fashion and Public Relations Director for Saks Fifth Avenue in both San Diego and South Coast Plaza.

She then moved to LA and went on to manage public relations and fashion events for Escada and Ermenegildo Zegna. This led to becoming Western Regional Manager for a New York-based PR firm with clients such as Porsche Cars North America and Ketel One Vodka.

Beverly left her Southern California homeland to move to Almaden Valley in Northern California to marry the man of her dreams, Herbie. On a whim, she designed herself a flowered handbag. She received an enthusiastic response from friends and strangers alike. "I couldn’t walk down the street without somebody commenting that they loved my bag!" At her daughter’s request to help her out at the LA Gift Show, who rented a booth to sell her line of dog jewelry, she took up a small corner and hung a few of her bags. She received orders from around the country. "I called my husband and said, oh my gosh, I think I’m in business!" Being called "Red" all of her life, Red Haute Couture (RHC) was born.

Now, Beverly Z, the name she designs under, has expanded her line to include all types of fashion and home accessories, and Herbie helps whenever he can, in keeping with his official title, V.P.G. (Vice President Gopher)! The company has truly become a family endeavor and has expanded beyond her wildest dreams, with input from her fashion-savvy daughter Erin, who shares young and creative ideas that influence many of RHC designs.

In addition to Red Haute Couture, Beverly owns a special event production company under the name of Red Haute & Co. She is currently the Fashion Director for Santana Row, an upscale shopping area in San Jose, California.
